Maria G. Derrico

Maria G. Derrico age 65 of Canonsburg, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, in Canonsburg Hospital. She was born November 23, 1958, in Asti, province of Savona, Italy. Maria was the daughter of the late Patrick C. and Dorothy E. George Derrico and lived her life in Canonsburg where she was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School class of 1977. After graduation, Maria became a dental assistant with Dr. Donaldson. She later became a billing technician in medical insurance with St. Clair Hospital and various dentist and chiropractors in the area. She became a member of Waterdam Church in 2016, where she participated in numerous Women’s Bible Studies and sometimes taught them. Maria served on the Fellowship Team preparing and serving meals and would often take meals to members who were recovering from illness or surgery. Maria also served on the Sunday morning Café Team and regularly served on the North Strabane Nursing Home Ministry Team, where she volunteered, as well as with many other charitable organizations over the years. The church and its activities were a big part of her life. Maria was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan and enjoyed traveling. Left behind to cherish her memory are her siblings, David P. (Linda) Derrico, Denise M. (the late Leon) Strimel, Jeffrey P. (Cindy) Derrico, Lee A. (Tom) Profy and Patricia F. “Trish” (Joe) Orlowski and several nieces and nephews.

Services will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Waterdam Church 208 Galley Road Canonsburg with Pastor Jack Wilson officiating. Private entombment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
