Maria Viviana Garcia

ADRIAN – Maria Viviana Garcia, age 86, of Adrian, died Friday evening, October 13, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born December 2, 1936, in Cotulla, TX, the only daughter of the late Juan and Beatrice (Garcia) Rodriguez.
Maria was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Adrian, where she lived most of her life. On March 26, 1971, in Adrian, she married Daniel Garcia, and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2018. Maria was a hard worker, and was employed nearly 30 years as a relief operator at the former GM Delphi plant in Adrian. She formally retired in the early 1990s.
Catholic by faith, Maria was a longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, gambling at nearby casinos, and traveling. She is remembered as a sweet yet strong-willed soul who served as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was genuine and always wore her heart on her sleeve.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra (Scott) Gosselin of Manitou Beach, Margaret (Joe) Rodriguez of Sidney, OH, and Michelle (Pat) Deniston of Adrian; step-son, Michael (Wendy) Garcia of Adrian; one brother, Roy (Sharon) Rodriguez of Cadmus; eleven grandchildren, Roger, Michael, Stacy, Scottie, Stephan, Elijah, Xavier, Siaunna, Austin, Aaron and Stephan; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Maria was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie and Stephan Garcia; four grandsons, Derek, Jason, Joshua, and Coty; and four brothers, Ray, John, Rudy, and Bob Rodriguez.
A visitation for Maria will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 12:00 – 2:30 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian. A scripture service and time of sharing will immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Lenawee County Memorial Gardens in Tecumseh.
