Maria Perez Guzman

Maria P. Guzman, 83, entered into eternal rest on October 1, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She spent much of her life working as a skilled seamstress and was well known in her community for her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit. Maria had a gift for connecting with people and was deeply involved in the lives of those around her. She also had a passion for gardening, especially tending to her beloved roses and plants. She is survived by her four children: Stella Guzman-Moreno (Ramiro) of Edinburg, Glandy Guzman-Delgado (Godfrey Jr.) of Harlingen, Alex Guzman (Lori) of Mercedes, and Esmeralda P. Guzman of Harlingen. She also leaves behind twelve cherished grandchildren: Joey Guzman, Ramsey Isaiah Moreno, Roslynn Starr Moreno, Juan L. Ybarra III, Justin J. Ybarra, Katalina Guzman, Alejandro Guzman, Priscilla Guzman, Thomas Guzman, Troy Guzman, Rafael L. Rangel, and Christopher A. Guzman, along with numerous great-grandchildren who brought her great joy. Maria is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Locadio Lynch Guzman; her granddaughter, Christina Sunshine Tullos; and her parents, Ramon and Vicenta Perez. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Harlingen. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Juan L. Ybarra III, Justin J. Ybarra, Ramsey Isaiah Moreno, Christopher A. Guzman, Godfrey Delgado Jr., and Ramiro Moreno. Funeral arrangements are under the compassionate care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home, Harlingen, Texas.
