Loran Fawcett Chapel - NeodeshaIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria M. Kinkaid, who left this world on November 27, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on December 24, 1932, in Taizy, France, Maria was the cherished daughter of Polish immigrants and the first of her family to be born in France. Growing up in a remote area of France, she began her journey in life at an early age, working in a local café by the age of 14, where her vivacious spirit and zest for life began to shine.
After meeting her husband, Charles Ray Kinkaid while he was in the military overseas, they eventually came back to the U.S. where they made Sedan, Kansas, home. After their divorce, she decided to stay in Sedan where she would raise her son, Jeff Kinkaid, and establish herself as a cherished member of the community.
Maria found joy in dancing, singing, and her passion for gardening. She was often found front and center, passionately belting out songs with an enthusiasm that resonated with those around her. Her green thumb was renowned in her community, as she nurtured flowers with a love that mirrored her kindness—every bloom a testament to her devotion.
A devoted member of the Episcopal Church of Sedan, Maria immersed herself in her community, dedicating her time to socializing and providing assistance whenever she could. Her love for her church deepened her connections with those around her, creating memories that will never fade.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her four siblings. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Jeff Kinkaid (Penny); daughters Teresa (Mark) Baumgarten, Debbie Cole, and son, Charles Kinkaid (Linda); and her grandchildren, Kayla Vail and her three children, Alicia (Jerry) Tempelmeyer and their five children, Joshua (Trina) Kinkaid and their child, and Christin (Zane) Evans and their three children, along with many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family invites friends and loved ones to attend a graveside service at Ames Chapel Cemetery on December 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM, to celebrate Maria's beautiful life and the memories we hold dear. The family kindly requests donations be made to The Episcopal Church of Sedan, Kansas, in honor of Maria's love for her church and community. As we gather to remember Maria, let us share stories, tears, and laughter, just as she would have wanted—surrounded by love and joy.
