It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Idolina “Lina” Rodriguez, who left us on August 13, 2025, while surrounded by the love of her family. She was born to Ernesto and Irene Lopez in Peñitas, Texas on October 3, 1937.
Lina was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always thinking about and concerned with the well-being of her kids and grandkids; making sure they were always taken care of to the best of her ability. She was a very strong, independent, hard-working woman. She was a devoted Catholic and active in her church. She was very well known in the community and in her church, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Hobbs, New Mexico. She loved to help in the kitchen “and be in charge” with any events that were held at the church. She thrived in helping others in their time of need, whenever she could. Everyone that knew her called her Gramma Lina and loved her very much. She was known for her tamales, and she loved to make them for every holiday or just because her family craved them. She loved working in her yard with her flowers and rose bushes. She was a one-of-a-kind lady who spoke her mind, spoke the truth, and told you “how it was gonna be”, no matter what. It was always out of love.
Gramma Lina was preceded in death by her husband, Adan Rodriguez, and her two sons, Adan Jr. and Ricardo Rodriguez. She is also preceded by her daughter, Maria Rodriguez, granddaughter Regina, brother Joe Lopez and sister Gloria Salinas.
She is survived by her four sons, Rodolfo, Abraham, Dagoberto, and Adolfo Rodriguez, 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren, along with three sisters and four brothers.
She will be extremely missed and always loved but always in our hearts
