WORCESTER: Maria C. (Cellucci) Matejko, 60, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a long battle with coronary heart disease and complications from a heart transplant in November 2023.
Maria is survived by her husband, Brian D. Matejko, their daughter, Courtney Matejko, to whom she was devoted, her father, Barton Cellucci, Sr., several loving nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy (Fiorvanti) Cellucci and her brother, Barton Cellucci, Jr.
Maria was born in Worcester and raised in Westborough, graduating from Westborough High School, Class of 1981 and continued her education in cosmetology school, and became a hairdresser. Her amazing talent for design could transform any place into a showroom. Over the years she owned and rented space in consignment shops in Holden and Worcester.
The ocean was her happy place, enjoying walking along the beach, and spending time with Brian, Courtney and their beloved dog Jack. Above all, Maria was a kind and caring person and her vibrant personality shone brightly in any room she entered, spreading generosity and love to everyone she encountered. Maria will be deeply missed as a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, aunt and friend.

Brian and Courtney, I can´t begin to tell you how sorry I am for you and Courtney. I am so heartbroken. I met Maria many years ago when she came to me to do her hair , we became fast friends. And went out and hung out a lot. I loved her laugh and sense of humor. I could say anything to her and her to me. She was my confidant and I was hers. She always told me how much she loved you and couldn´t live without you, You were her strength, you loved her unconditional, Stay strong. I will miss Maria every day of my life, that´s how special she was to me. Love to you and Courtney .Cynthia Ramuno

Brian and family- I am so very sorry for your loss. I never met Maria but spoke with her over the phone several times and she was always so pleasant. Brian, there is nothing I wish more than to tell you that your Maria is on the line. Hoping that your memories of Maria help you all during this difficult time. Michelle
