Mrs. Maria (Persechini) DiCicco of Waltham, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She Was 89.
Maria was born in Valleluce Via Cese, Italy. She is predeceased by her husband Francesco, her parents Giovanna & Felice Persechini of Italy, her sister Marianna Soave & late husband Giovanni of Italy, sister and brother-in-law Antonietta and Domenico Soave of England, brother-in-law Felciano DiMascio beloved husband to sister Giustina of Waltham, brother-in-law Domenico Antonio Persechini, beloved husband to sister-in-law Michela Persechini of Italy, brother-in-law Joe Fortuna, beloved husband to sister Angelina Fortuna of England, niece Emily (DiMascio) Kane of Waltham, MA and, nephew Antonio Soave of Italy
She is survived by children, Anthony of Jupiter, Florida, John of Dedham and Rita of Watertown; her grandsons, Stephen of Medford and Scott of Boston. She is also survived by her brother Giovanni Persechini of Brighton, sister Angelina Fortuna of England, sister Giustina DiMascio of Waltham, brother Fortunato Persecini and his wife Frances of Collierville, Tennessee, brother-in-law Guiseppe DiCicco and wife Cosma of Newton, sister-in-law Michela Persechini of Italy and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Maria was loved by all that came to know her and she loved everyone. She will be remembered for her laughter, her smile as well as her love of food, cooking and baking, playing a mean game of bocci and the many gatherings that she and her husband Frank hosted and attended where she never missed a chance to dance, especially the chicken dance. But most of all she will be remembered for the sacrifices she made for her family.
Family and friends will honor and remember Maria’s life by gathering for calling hours in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, December 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery.
