Maria C. (Rodrigues) Pimentel, age 82, of Providence, passed away Wednesday, January 10,2024, in Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of José C. Pimentel, to whom she shared over 50 years of marriage.
Born in São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of Manuel R. Rodrigues and Maria de Conceição Vieira. Maria and her husband immigrated to the United States after their three daughters were born. She worked with R.I. Buckle for many years prior to her retirement.
A wonderful cook, Maria loved being in the kitchen and feeding her friends and family. In her down time, she was often sewing or enjoying her favorite pastime, shopping. Always giving and kind hearted, she was the most loving mother and grandmother. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Fatima Sullivan and her husband Brian, Fernanda Silva and her husband Charles, and Filomena Braga and her husband João; siblings, Irene Carvalho, Natalia Pascoal, João Vieira-Rodrigues, and Manuel Vieira-Rodrigues; grandchildren, Amanda Camara, Sean Sullivan, Matthew Silva, Justine Dorney, and Ashley Braga; and great grandchildren, Isabella, Declan, and Jacob. She was the sister of the late Maria Barbosa and José Vieira Rodrigues.
Relatives and friends are invited to join her Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 16,2024 at 9:30AM from the Thomas and Walter Quinn Funeral Home,2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church,21 Traverse St, Providence. Visitation will be held on Monday in the funeral home from 4:00-7:00PM. Burial to follow immediately after Mass will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
