Maria Elena Serrano

Maria Elena Serrano Nunez passed away on September 19, 2023 at 83 years old. She was born in Villa Riva, Dominican Republic on October 7, 1939 to Tomacina and Herman Serrano. When she was in her early twenties she moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico where she was married and raised her four daughters.
She is preceded in death by her parents and older siblings Carmen, Jacinta, Marco, Pinto, Cachita, Cencio and Casilda.
Maria Elena was a dedicated mother, an active member in her church, an amazing cook and seamstress. Once her children were grown, she dedicated her life to help raising her grandchildren. She loved music, traveling and helping those in need.
Maria Elena was the second youngest of nine siblings. She is survived by her youngest sister Moma Serrano, daughters Nicasia Serrano (husband Alberto Serrano-Torres), Melania De Jesus, Maria del Carmen Mirabal (husband Pedro Mirabal) and Anita Rodriguez, grandchildren Haydee Serrano, Pedro Mirabal, Nicole Bermudez, Raman Mirabal, Nicholas Serrano, Bernice Mirabal, Tiffani Bennett and Sofia Dicus and greatgrandchildren Alberto Watts and Jayden Watts.
She will be greatly missed by all who came to know her.
