Marian Bates Obituary

Marian Yarger was born June 29, 1927 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Lester and Bessie (Cosner) Yarger. She was educated in Kewanee Schools and graduated from Kewanee High School in 1945. On August 8, 1948 she married Donald C. Bates in Kewanee, IL. Don passed away on January 14, 2021. Marian had been employed during and after high school at Ford Hopkins and S.S. Kresge, in Kewanee. She enjoyed watching wildlife and marveled at cooking and baking, researching her family ancestry and raising and spending time with her children and family.
Marian is survived by a daughter, Eileen Neuhalfen, Galva; four sons, Donald E Bates, Elizabethton, TN, Leslie and Gary Bates, Galva, and James Bates, Phenix City, AL. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; sister, Lois Mundz, Kewanee; and a brother, Howard Yarger, Mendota, IL. Her parents, husband, sisters, Jeanette Witte, and Irene Boelens, brother, Kenneth Yarger, daughter, Janice Baysingar, two grandchildren, Michael Mitro and Levi Baysingar preceded her in death.
