Marian R. Parker

Marian Ruth Parker, age 101, passed away peacefully September 28th, 2024 at the Dekalb nursing home with her son and daughter by her side. She was born October 6th, 1922 in Lena, Illinois to Edward and Dora Baker. She had three brothers: Wilbur, Walter and Vernon Baker. She married Marlow Parker August 24th, 1949. They had two children Maureen Christensen(Cliff) and Mark Parker(Susan). Marian owned and ran three different salons throughout her life. She worked well into her 70's. This was a great passion of hers. She was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist church for over 20 years. She was known as the "peanut brittle lady." Pounds and pounds of peanut brittle were given away to friends, neighbors and family. She would also make her peanut brittle for all the church bazaars. This brought her great joy. She was also known for her style and grace. She loved baking, cooking, doing puzzles, attending church and spending time with her family and friends. Marian lived an amazing life, and she loved to share her stories of growing up and of all her adventures. Marian was a very loving woman. She took care of both her parents until their deaths. She then took care of her brother until his passing. Her life was a living example of one of her favorite bible verses: Ephesians 4:32- "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." Marian is survived by her son Mark Parker(Susan) and daughter Maureen Christensen. She is also survived by four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great, great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband Marlow Parker, her parents Edward and Dora Baker, her granddaughter Samantha Parker, her three brothers and two sister in-laws and her son-in-law. She will be missed by so many.
