Marie Louise Delahoussaye, age 75, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at The Vincent in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was born on September 7, 1948, in her hometown of Opelousas, Louisiana. A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Father Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will be at St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery in Opelousas, Louisiana.
The pallbearers will be Charles Ray Delahoussaye, II, Michael Eugene Delahoussaye, William Nicholas King, Logan Boyd and Mark Zerangue. The honorary pallbearer will be Eugene Alex Sandoz.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home and recited by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
Marie's life was filled with warmth and love as she touched the hearts of all who knew her. As a sports enthusiast, she found great joy in cheering for LSU Football. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, and she cherished moments spent outdoors observing her hummingbirds and caring for her beloved cats and dogs.
Marie's passing leaves a void in the lives of her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles Ray Delahoussaye; her sons, Charles Ray Delahoussaye II (and his wife Pam Delahoussaye) of Austin, TX, and Michael Eugene Delahoussaye (and his wife Michon Meche) of Carencro, LA; her grandson, Luke Michael Delahoussaye; her sister, Jean Sandoz King of Lafayette, LA; her brother, Eugene Alex Sandoz (and his wife Kristine Anderson) of Poplarville, MS.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Landry Sandoz and Rita Udee' Castille.
Marie will forever be remembered for her kindness, love for family, and cheerful spirit that brightened the lives of those around her. May she rest in peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved her deeply.
