Marie Drew Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 6, 2025.
It is with heavy, but proud hearts that we announce the passing of Marie Drew, age 83, who left us peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 27, 2025. Marie left this world as she lived in it, making her own decisions with strength and courage.

Marie received a Bachelor of Science Degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Geneva College, while working full-time and serving as a single mother of two boys. She led an adventurous life that included thrilling pursuits like white water rafting, snow and water skiing, paragliding, jet skiing, camping, and zip-lining, showcasing her zest for life, something which she instilled in both her sons!

Marie was a strong woman whose spirit, intellect, and sense of humor made a lasting impact on all who knew her. She battled with a rare disease, neurofibromatosis type II (NF2), and dedicated her life to helping others within the NF2 community. As an initial contact for newly diagnosed NF2 patients, she provided guidance and encouragement with her famous words: "No time for crying; we need to get to work."

Her sense of humor was a comforting presence, even in challenging times, but she was always focused on moving forward and not looking back!

Marie is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeff Drew (Laura Drew) and Michael Drew (Michele Drew). Granddaughters, Tea, Grace, and Cate

Drew, as well as her sister Donna Smith and brother Eddie Sowinsky.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the NF2 Network here: https://nf2biosolutions.org/about-us/advisory-board/

Rest in peace, Marie. And wave that Steelers Terrible Towel!
