Karen A.G. Loud, 90, of New York City and Santa Fe, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025.

Born in London on June 1, 1935, to Lena Lloyd Sutton and Joseph Goukassow, Mrs. Loud moved to New York City with her mother just before the London Blitz. Her father, originally from Russia, came from a family involved in the shipping industry and relocated to London during Stalin's rise to power.

Mrs. Loud was educated at the Brearley School in New York and Rosemary Hall in Greenwich, Connecticut. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Radcliffe College and completed postgraduate studies at Harvard University.

A pioneer in the financial industry, Ms. Loud became the first female portfolio manager at Chase Manhattan Bank. Her career also included positions at U.S. Trust, Bessemer Trust, and Christie's Auction House, where she combined her financial acumen with her passion for the arts.

Ms. Loud was a lifelong supporter of opera and the visual arts. She served on and chaired numerous boards, including The Santa Fe Opera, The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, and The International Folk Art Market, contributing significantly to the cultural life of both New York and Santa Fe.

She also had a deep and enduring love of travel, exploring extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Russia, Morocco, and beyond. Her journeys enriched her worldview and reflected her curiosity and appreciation for global cultures.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Lloyd Vogel of Charleston, SC, and her niece, Adrienne Vogel Hill of Atlanta, GA.

For those who wish to honor Karen, please consider donating to any of the institutions she was involved with in Santa Fe or where she peacefully spent her final days, Scott's House Community Hospice, also in Santa Fe.
