Marie Drown Obituary

Marie Ruth (nee Page) Drown, beloved companion of Frank and exemplary mother of Linda, Ross, Irene, Tim and Lolly died in her 99th year of life in her room at the care center where she resided in Harrisonville, MO. She is survived by her four living children: Linda Root of Raymore, MO, Ross Drown of Asheville, NC, Timothy Drown of Wheaton, Il, and Laura Erdel of Mishawaka, In.
Born in Lime Ridge, WI. Marie and her husband Frank served in Ecuador for 37 years with the Gospel Missionary union (now Avant Ministries), mostly in the eastern jungles among the Shuar and Achuar. After retirement from Ecuador their ministry continued at a Christian camp in Canada and with Christian radio establishment for the First Nations people of Ontario. All her family and relatives, as well as many friends and colleagues in Ecuador and North America will miss her.
She loved God and other people, and she faithfully studied, obeyed and taught God's word. Like the Apostle she finished the race and kept the faith and so will receive the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to all who long for his appearing.
"Only one life, will soon be past;
Only what's done for Christ will last"
A visitation to honor Marie will be held on Sunday, October 24, from 12-2:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., both at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street in Independence, MO. The service will be livestreamed via Speaks Chapels page for those who would like to virtually attend her service. A graveside service for Marie will be held on Monday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery in Kansas, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to Avant International Ministries for the Shuar Bible Translation, 10000 N. Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64155. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.speakschapel.com (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel 816-373-3600).

What a beautiful legacy! I never had the opportunity to meet either Frank or Marie Drown but just completed reading their book tonight. I was scrolling for more information & saw this. I´m terribly sorry for your loss & pray God´s peace to your family. Please know I was very blessed & stirred with reading of their faithfulness. Truly they will continue to work for His Kingdom with the legacy they have left behind. Godspeed!

Family of Marie, I loved your mom (& dad). She was a guest speaker at a couple of our women's retreats when we were at Frederick Blvd. Baptist Church and my guest at another retreat. We had your parents over for meals and fellowship; and of course to hear your dad preach. When they moved to the care facility, we would stop by to visit on our way to or from St. Joseph (we moved several years ago). Covid restrictions prevented us from visiting but I still sent her occasional cards/notes. Your mom & dad are enjoying rich fellowship with the saints and some of their beloved converts/families from Ecuador. Blessings to you all as you share memories and special times together.

Just now finished reading "Mission to the Headhunters," and decided to look up Frank and Marie on the Internet and found this and that Frank had passed into glory almost four years ago. What joy in heaven as they receive a crown of glory and cast it at Jesus´ feet in honor of the work God called them to do and then helped them to do it. Look forward to meeting them myself when I get to heaven.
