Marie Bernarde Easterling

A Celebration of Life for Marie Bernarde Easterling "RieRie" will be held from 2:00-5:00 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2025 in the Chapel of Griffin Funeral Home, 911 Warren Drive, West Monroe, LA.
Marie attended Jesus the Good Shepherd Church. Notifications of services will be announced at a later date. She attended university at NLU (ULM), received advanced degree and certification at Northwestern School of Medicine, Chicago and University of Mississippi. She had a 38 year career with St. Francis Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist, Department Director and a counselor in the Tobacco Cessation Program. She was a member of North LA Quilters Guild and Modern Quilters Guild (Chaired 2016 Annual Show).
Marie's passions were West Highland White Terriers and all animals. She raised and rescued many animals. She enjoyed cooking with friends, gardening, the Monroe Garden District, traveling, Art Museums, Theatre, good restaurants, She loved the Saints, and the LSU tigers along with The Chicago Cubs, and lastly shopping. Flirty Girl will especially miss her.
Marie's greatest passion was for her patients. Her dedication and compassion were recognized when one year she was asked to serve on the committee to design the national certification exam for respiratory therapists.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Ray and Mary Angela Easterling; sister, Mary Elizabeth Huff; brothers, Mathew Easterling, Edward Easterling, William Ray Easterling.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers, James Steven Easterling (Nancy Easterling), David Michael Easterling, John Joseph Easterling; sisters, Mary Heitzinger (Robert Heitzinger), Mary Terese Williams (Rev. Bill Williams), Christine Barron (Thomas Barron), Margaret M. Scott (Walter Scott); a legion of cherished friends and colleagues, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of gifts or flowers, donations be made in her name to: Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge, 2609 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121. In note line, designate in memory of Marie B. Easterling and restricted to: New Orleans Hope Lodge.
