Dr. Marie B. Koals

Dr. Marie B. Koals, 82, of Mohnton, PA, and formerly of Lansdale, PA, died Friday, December 19, 2025. She was the wife of the late Dr. Michael A. Koals, who died October 8, 2000.

Born December 20, 1942 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Dwyer) Hogg.

Dr. Koals served as a teacher, college professor, tutor, and administrator throughout her career. She began her career with The School District of Philadelphia after graduating from Temple University. She taught in multiple districts before receiving her doctorate from Lehigh in 1990. Marie developed a Reading Specialist program at Eastern University and also taught at Chestnut Hill College and Beaver College before serving as the Head of the Lower School of Germantown Academy, Fort Washington.

Marie was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale. She was also active with the Delaware Valley Reading Association and the Women's Club of Greater Philadelphia.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle M. Koals of Mohnton.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
