Marie M. Lence (née Hamrick), 95, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Mercy New Life Hospice after a brief illness.
Born on March 16, 1929, in Orient, Pennsylvania, Marie had been a resident of Vermilion for many years, having moved from her hometown to build a life full of love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Marie worked as a compassionate and devoted nurse's aide for several years, earning the respect and gratitude of those she cared for.
An active member of the Jehovah's Witness Congregation, Marie found joy in her faith and her community. She loved cooking, taking long walks, playing the harmonica, and cheering on Cleveland sports teams, especially her beloved Browns. Known for her impeccable sense of style, Marie once pursued modeling, reflecting her appreciation for high fashion and elegance.
Marie is survived by her son, Scott Lence (Amy); daughter, Julie Lence; and grandchildren, Margo and Gavin Lence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lence; her parents, Earl and Lerlyn Hamrick (née Hathaway); her son, David; and her siblings, Betty Lou Hamrick, Pearl Hamrick, and Freda Hamrick.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.
Memorial contributions suggested to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 6001 OH-60, Wakeman OH 44889.
