Marietta Asenith Cartmell (87) was born November 23, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to Arthur and Julia Mabel (King) Cartmell. Marietta passed away November 22nd, 2025 at Independence Manor in Independence, Missouri.

Marietta was a devoted follower of Christ from an early age and was active in Youth for Christ during the 1950s. She enjoyed a long and dedicated career with Southwestern Bell/AT&T, where she worked for thirty-one years before retiring in 1998. In the 1990s, she also shared her love of people through her work as a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant.

A passionate Kansas City Royals fan, Marietta was proud to work for the organization from 2007 until 2020. She had a true servant's heart and volunteered faithfully with Crossroads Hospice until 2020. She also cherished reading to students at Blackburn Elementary School and served her community by assisting with donations at Hilcrest Ministries.

Marietta loved to travel and went on many cruises throughout her life. For a time she owned a timeshare in Branson, Missouri, where she enjoyed wine tastings, music shows, and visits to Silver Dollar City. She was an active member of The Gathering at Noland Road in Independence, Missouri, remaining connected with her church family until 2020, when she transitioned to memory care, first at The Groves and later at Independence Manor.

Marietta is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: cousins Kathryn Fish (Mike) of Kimberling City, Missouri, Ron King (Chris) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and her friend and caregiver, Lori King (Rod) of Independence, Missouri. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service and celebration of Marietta's life will be held at a later time. Cremation services provided by Heartland Cremation and Burial Society of Raytown, Missouri.
