Marijean Ribordy

Marijean passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at age 77 years old.
Marijean was born on January 15, 1948, to Richard and Helen Grennan in Evanston, IL. She graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1970 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught First Grade for four years in Des Plaines, IL. During this time, she met her future husband Joseph J. Ribordy. They were married in 1971 and spent 50 wonderful years together before Joseph passed away in 2022.
In 1975 Marijean became a stay-at-home mom. She raised three children until the youngest was in first grade. Then she went back to school at the College of Lake County. Graduating in 1993, she began an 18-year career in Health Information Technology. First working at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, and then Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, she found her true calling in the coding of medical records.
Marijean was an avid hobbyist. Among her many interests were reading, needlework, scrapbooking, pottery, doll making and quilting. Her last hobby was quilting, and she made many quilts for family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed the work.
Marijean is survived by her three children: Jeana Marie (Charles) Tyche, Brian Joseph (Amy) Ribordy, Jeffrey John (Deborah) Ribordy and her two brothers: Richard Grennan of Green Lake, WI and Lawrence Grennan of Los Angeles, CA.
Also surviving her are her 7 grandchildren who were the love of her life, Ava, Ashley, Jack, Riley, Brynn, Aiden and Francis. Spending time with each child and listening to them tell her about their lives brought her tremendous joy. She loved each one wholeheartedly.
Marijean was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph J. Ribordy, and her parents.
Services will be held Friday, September 12, 2025, at Justen's funeral home, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm.
