Marilyn Bakos Obituary
Born in Dover, NJ she was one of fourteen children born to the late Joseph and Agnes Skutka. Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Rockaway Twp. She was a devout, lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Rockaway.
Throughout her working years she was employed by Our Lady of Sorrows Convent in Denville and in the cafeterias at the Rockaway Twp. Schools. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, Norbu Lodge, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Hibernia Fire Co #1 both of Rockaway Twp.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Joseph M. Bakos II; her son, Joseph M. Bakos III; and siblings, Joseph Skutka, George Skutka, Thomas Skutka, Robert Skutka, Peg Jankowski, and Agnes Dunnder.
She is survived by her seven children: Irene Gramp (Robert), Thomas Bakos (Christine), Edward Bakos (Patricia), Christopher Bakos, Steven Bakos (Christina), David Bakos (Patricia), and Carolyn Ugras (Steven); siblings, Edward Skutka, John Skutka, Kathleen Waddington, James Skutka, Frank Skutka, Richard Skutka, and Barbara Skutka; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 4:00 - 7:00PM at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave, Rockaway, NJ 07866. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 65 E. Main St, Rockaway NJ. Interment to follow at Marcella Union Cemetery, Rockaway, NJ.
