Marilyn Joyce Hageman Barber

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Marilyn Joyce Hageman Barber, 86, passed away January 12, 2023. She was born in Akron and was the eldest daughter to the late Mr. Harold “Red” and Mrs. Lucille Hageman and was a lifelong Cuyahoga Falls resident. She was a 1954 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School going on to earn a degree in education from Kent State University. Marilyn worked as a speech and hearing therapist for the Portage County Schools before becoming a reference assistant at Taylor Memorial Library, retiring after 27 years of service.  She loved shopping at Macy’s, waiting and watching for sales on the items she wanted.  Marilyn volunteered at Price Elementary School and Sill Middle School. She taught Sunday School at Pilgrim United Church.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Anthony and brother, Charles Hageman; she is survived by her son, Lance (Tricia); grandchildren, Grace and Lily; sister, Linda Bernhart.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Western Reserve Hospital.

Memorial calling will be held 1 hour prior to a 6 PM memorial service on Friday January 20, 2023 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. In lieu of flowers and other remembrances, donations may be made to Cuyahoga Falls Cancer Club.
