Marilyn Joanne (Mills) Davis, age 94, of Humboldt, Kansas passed away peacefully at Credo Assisted Living in Chanute, Kansas on June 23, 2025.
Marilyn was born on May 14, 1931, in Wichita, Kansas. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her adoptive parents, Edith (Walters) and Chester H. Mills. Marilyn attended Wichita schools throughout childhood and into college, studying music.
On April 15, 1962, Marilyn married Ivor "Dave" Davis, Jr. In this union, she was blessed with seven children; Joe, Tom, Nan, Cindy, Nobby, Shelli, and Jeff. Throughout her life, she was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her abundant joy.
Marilyn had a strong sense of civic duty. She was involved in many organizations, most recently HHPA and Freedom's Frontier. While a member of the Humboldt City Council, she gained the prestigious Municipal Training Institute, level III, achievement. She was an excellent seamstress and won many awards for her cross-stitch projects. Marilyn also loved to travel, never being afraid to venture off on her own.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Joe Davis; infant son, Chet Davis; and great-grandson, Frost Schmoe.
She is survived by children, Tom Davis of Yates Center, Nan Kaufman of Humboldt, Cindy (Brent) Carter of Ponder, Texas, Nobby (Terra) Davis of Humboldt, Shelli Zinser of Humboldt, and Jeff Davis of Chanute; daughter-in-law, Susie Davis of Lawrence; sister, Patricia Nelson of Shady Shores, Texas; 16 grandkids; many great-grandchildren, with more on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family will greet friends at a visitation the evening prior to the service, on June 25, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Humboldt United Methodist Church. A funeral for Marilyn will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Yates Center Cemetery. Memorials may be made out to NMRNC Horizon Hospice and left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Condolences may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
