God loaned us an amazing Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend for 92 years. Marilyn J. Davis returned home to her Father and Savior on February 15, 2026. Marilyn (Miller) Davis, eldest of four children born to LaMar Miller Sr. and Olive (Wammes) Miller, was born February 10, 1934 in Millersville, Ohio. Marilyn was a documented descendant of William Bradford of the Mayflower. She graduated from Jackson Burgoon High School (now Lakota), Burgoon, Ohio in 1952.
Marilyn married the love of her life, William W. Davis, on December 27, 1952 at Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont, Ohio. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary by proclaiming how truly blessed they were to have each other. William and Marilyn Davis had six children: Pam (Sam) Guerra of Zephyrhills, Florida, Diane Davis Janowich of Huron, Ohio, Terry (Tammy) Davis of Port Clinton, Karen (Tom) Keller of Sylvania, Tom (Stephanie) Davis of London, Ontario, Canada, and Barbara Davis Mitchell of Port Clinton.
Marilyn is survived by five children, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by two brothers: LaMar Miller Jr. and Lonnie Miller. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Terry Davis, brother Terry Miller, son-in-law Bill Janowich, and Andy Heckerd.
Marilyn's strength was abundant in her love of God, family, and friends. She fought her way back to walking many times after being told repeatedly that she would never walk again. Marilyn was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Port Clinton and then Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran, Dade City, Florida when the couple moved to Zephyrhills, Florida in 1984. Over the years, she was active in the CCL, choir, quilting club, and was well known for her cinnamon rolls at the spring church bake sale where people would line up to buy them.
Marilyn worked in the office of American Condo Park, was elected as the Danbury Township Clerk and served on the Danbury School Board for many years. She also worked odd jobs out of the house and volunteered weekly at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton and Advent Health in Zephyrhills. She was the Davis family taxi driver, coupon clipper extraordinaire, and biggest champion for her six children. Marilyn loved swimming, square dancing, and playing cards and games of all sorts. She mostly loved spending time with her family and great friends. The answer to everyone's question … no, she never dyed her hair!
A private family service will be held on Thursday, February 26th at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in
Rittman, Ohio. The family requests that any donations be made to the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 37015 Orange Valley Lane, Dade City, Florida or Gulfside Hospice.
