Marilyn Gilbertson

Marilyn S. Gilbertson passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving
children on Saturday March 9, 2024 after a long courageous battle with dementia.
Marilyn was born to Lawrence David and Thelma Lucille Biddler on November 30, 1945
in Tulsa, OK. Her family lived in Oklahoma for most of her life and she spent her youth
working in her parent's restaurant, "Skeets Drive-in." She graduated from Oklahoma
State University with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. After college, she moved to
various places on the East Coast before settling in the Myrtle Beach area and she lived
here for 44 years. Marilyn had several careers including being a medical lab technician,
working in real estate, and finally becoming a Biology teacher at Socastee High School.
Her greatest joy and accomplishment was being a full time devoted Mother to her
children.
Everyone around her loved Marilyn for her infectious personality and sweet demeanor.
She had an innate ability to make people feel supported and appreciated. To know her
was to love her and she always went out of her way to be there for those she cared about.
She lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling, playing cards, spending time with
her grandchildren, baking, and remodeling. She was a remarkable person who
approached life with positivity and a strong belief in her faith. Marilyn will be missed
immensely and we thank her for the joy she brought to those who had the privilege to
know her.
Those left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy include her son, Jason
Gilbertson, her daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Rob Lengyel, her beautiful grand
daughters, Clare and Madelyn Lengyel, her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Emily
Biddler, her niece, Jeanie Brown and her family, her nephew, David Biddler and his
family, and her cousins, Kay and Grant Grumbine.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved parents, Lawerence and Thelma Biddler. We
would like to acknowledge her loving hospice team and her amazing health home aides,
Eleanor and Dazette.
