Marilyn entered new life on Monday, March 18 with family at her side. Marilyn, age 91, had fallen and broken a hip three weeks earlier.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5 at 11:00 am at Elim Lutheran Church, 3978 West Broadway, Robbinsdale. An hour of visitation will precede the service and a luncheon will follow.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Enoch and Odlaug Aune, both immigrants from Norway; four older siblings and their spouses; her son Kenneth Sverre, husband Jan Edward, grandson Christian Olaf Osen and brother-in-law Sverre N. Haug. Marilyn leaves behind four children and their spouses: Christopher J. Haug (Karl Starr), Karen Osen (John), Kirsten Kessel (KC) Erik M. Haug (Jody). Four adult grandsons also survive her: Leif Kessel, Anders Osen, Gage Haug and Elliot Kessel.
Marilyn was a woman of deep Christian faith which she passed on to her children. She loved all creatures great and small, especially dogs, cats, birds, sea creatures, butterflies, and dragonflies. Marilyn was a singer who had memorized a vast repertoire of hymns and songs - she would spontaneously break into song with the very slightest trigger. After graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, she used her considerable artistic talents in an early career as a fashion illustrator, and later, in numerous creative projects for her church and with her kids. Marilyn enjoyed studying gourmet cooking and was always happy to cook for her husband and his business associates, her children, and every other kid in the neighborhood. She was an avid reader who devoured novels with gusto.
