Marilyn Basinger Johnson, passed away at her home on September 10, 2025. She was born on October 5th, 1951 to Doris Arlene Basinger and William "Bill" Martin Basinger in Lubbock, TX. She soon moved to the valley in Mercedes, Texas where her father was a Cotton Gin Manager. It was there, that she became the Cotton Gin Pageant Queen, cheered, played softball, and met the love of her life, Larry Wayne Johnson. At the age of 20, she began a new chapter and married him on June 3rd, 1972. Larry and Marilyn soon moved to Katy, Texas where she was a real estate appraiser for over 20 years.

She loved Larry very much and they wanted to grow their family, so they had two kids named Chad and Kimberly. She loved her kids and supported them in everything, and they very much loved her. In addition to her love for her family, Marilyn loved Katy Tiger football and attended their games for over 20 years.

Marilyn's death is preceded by her parents, Doris and Bill, as well as her older brother, Bruce.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Larry; son Chad and his wife Karen; daughter, Kimberly and her husband Zach; and 6 grandbabies, Tessann, Audrey Kate, Wyatt, Bo, Colt, and Birdie. She also leaves behind her sister, Sylvia Little and her husband Tom; her younger sister, Michelle Beiker and her husband Mark; sister in-law, Wyanze Basinger; as well as many nieces and nephews and the whole Johnson clan. In addition, she leaves behind many wonderful friends who she dearly loved.

Marilyn had a love that was special. She loved everyone and loved them hard. She fought the hard fight. Even though she is no longer with us, we know she is in heaven with Jesus, because that was her first love above all else. We will cherish the many memories and miss her very dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Castroville, 1408 Alsace Avenue, Castroville, Texas.
