Marilyn (Mare) Sue McCullough, 72, of Gothenburg, Nebraska died December 8, 2024, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born August 14, 1952, in Hastings, NE daughter of Jack Brown and Mary (McPherson) Brown. The family lived in Hastings, Havard, and Clay Center before settling in North Platte NE. Marilyn went on to graduate from Brady Public Schools. Marilyn went to Mid Plains Community College for 2 years and got her associate's degree in education. Marilyn married Thomas McCullough on January 24, 1970, in North Platte, NE. To this union three children were born Irene, Mariah, and Anna. Marilyn enjoyed cooking, baking, sharing her faith with people having bible studies and leadership roles in church. Marilyn was a talented guitarist and vocalist in her churches. Loved spending her time with her husband, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Marilyn worked as a teacher at Wild Horse Valley North of Brady, also worked at Gothenburg Library and worked with story hour and helped with the children. Marilyn worked at Gothenburg Hospital in Long Term Care for 10 years as a Nursing Assistant and Assistant Activity Director. Marilyn was an advocate for her residents and patients. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Thomas McCullough of Gothenburg; Three Daughters Irene (Randy) Britt of Brady, NE; Mariah Reeves of Sutherland, NE; Anna (Andy) McCullough McDaniel of Gothenburg. Ten grandchildren, Helena Beyers (Caleb) of North Platte, NE; Maurita Olguin(Cody Ticknor) of Gothenburg, NE; Calida Olguin of Sutherland, NE; Elysia Olguin(Calvin Grage ) of Lincoln, NE; Gisele Britt of Lincoln, NE; Simone Britt of Lincoln, NE; Torean Britt of Brady, NE; Lena Reeves of Sutherland, NE; Tyler Britt of Cozad, NE; Brandie Morrison of Callaway, NE Nine Great Grandkids Kamaria Ticknor, Emery Ticknor, Renly Ticknor, Viola Ticknor of Gothenburg, NE Matthew Ressegieu, Sarah Ressegieu of Sutherland, NE; Callen Beyers, of North Platte, NE; Roque Grage of Lincoln, NE; Rowyn Beyers of North Platte, NE; five sisters Jacqueline Edwards, Beth Brown, of North Platte, one brother Randy Brown of North Platte, NE; Linda Wilson, of Beatrice, NE; Barbra(Roy) Welch, Christy(Dennis) Wilson all of Lincoln, NE; sister and brother in law Joan(Dan) Looker of Des Moines, IA; brother- in-law Miles William McCullough II of Colorado. Marilyn had many nieces and nephews along with many great nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Brown of North Platte, NE. Marilyn's father-in-law Miles William McCullough and Mother-in-Law Genevieve McCullough. Grandson Kyle Britt. Sisters- in-laws Shirley McCullough and Betty Brown, brother-in-law Paul Edwards, niece Melanie McCullough and nephew Miles William McCullough III. Marilyn had a strong faith with God and a personal relationship with JESUS CHRIST. Marilyn was a shining light and a joyous loving caring wife, mom, grandma, and friend. Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, December 17, 2024, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, December 18, 2024 at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the Gideon's, or Saint Mary's Immigration Program, PO Box 456, Lexington, NE 68850.
