William 'Bill' Andres, born on May 2, 1966, in Cozad, Nebraska, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, on September 10, 2024, in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Bill was born to Maurice "Morrie" and Judy (McCandless) Andres in Cozad, Nebraska. Bill grew up in Cozad, and attended school at 81R and District 2 and graduated from Cozad High School in 1984. Bill earned his Bachelor of Arts in Agronomy at University of Nebraska at Lincoln in December 1988. He met Sharon (Booth) at Maranatha Bible Camp in December 1985. The couple married on August 13, 1988, and made their home in Cozad, Nebraska. To this loving union four children were born, Emily, Elizabeth, Curtis, and Lauren. His career spanned various roles, including farming, serving as a crop adjuster, forklift driver at Monroes, mechanic work, and custodian at Cozad Schools. Bill and Sharon most recently made their home in Gothenburg. Beyond his professional life, Bill loved God and his family more than anything. He had a passion for restoring antique cars, a hobby that brought him great joy and satisfaction. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts and was deeply involved in his church where he helped lead the youth group for several years. Bill also participated in Relay for Life for many years. He was known to have a sarcastic come-back or "Dad" joke for any occasion. He could play a mean radio song or rock record - often loud enough to rattle the windows - but was otherwise not musically inclined. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sharon A. Andres, of Gothenburg, NE; three daughters, Emily (Chris) Tvrdy of Cozad, NE, Elizabeth (Steven) Cote of Cozad, NE, and Lauren Andres of Lincoln, NE; one son, Curtis Andres of Lincoln, NE; his parents, Maurice "Morrie" C. and Judy Andres; and his two sisters, Julie (Joe) Linn of Cozad, NE, and Kimberly (Ken) Terry of Grand Island, NE. Bill was a proud "Papa" to six grandchildren, Emmett, Oliver, Charlotte and Theodore Tvrdy, and Madilyn and Hudson Cote; And many nieces and nephews and cousins, and extended family. William was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, William "Bill" and Lucille McCandless, and Carl and Wilma Andres. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with the family present at the Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg, NE. Funeral services will be, Monday, September 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Bible Church in Gothenburg, NE, with Pastor Scott Newman officiating. Bill's legacy will live on through his family and friends, whose lives he touched deeply. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Memorials may be given to UNMC for cancer Research.
