Marilyn Kay McWilliams passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on September 17, 1947, in Clovis, New Mexico. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
Marilyn's early years in Clovis were filled with the joys of childhood and the bonds of family. After completing high school, she pursued her passion for beauty and creativity by attending cosmetology school. Her flair for style and her warm, engaging personality made her a favorite among her clients. In time, Marilyn transitioned into the world of retail, where she continued to shine, working at Anthony's, Hulen's Jewelry Store, and The Little Shop, which held a special place in her heart as it was owned by her grandmother. Marilyn's also worked at PGH in admitting and the Senior Center in Andrews, where she not only worked but also formed lasting friendships that enriched her life deeply.
On September 10, 2015, Marilyn married Michael C. Payton, the love of her life, in a joyous ceremony in Las Vegas. Their union was a beautiful chapter in Marilyn's life, filled with shared passions and adventures. Together, they traveled to picturesque destinations such as Alpines, Fort Davis, Yosemite Park, South Dakota to Mount Rushmore creating unforgettable memories along the way.
A woman of many interests, Marilyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Marilyn and Michael enjoyed spending time doing puzzles, playing cards, and games of all kinds. However, it was the time spent with her family that she cherished above all else. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she reveled in the moments that brought them all together.
Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Michael C. Payton of Lamesa, Texas; her daughter, Lori K. Buckner, and husband, John, of
Andrews, Texas; her son-in-law, Todd Brewster of Junction, Texas; her step-son, Wesley Payton, and wife, Lihn, of Guam; her brothers, Ronnie McWilliams and wife, Jody, of Sacramento, New Mexico, and Bobby McWilliams and wife, Shirley, of Greenwood, Texas. Her legacy also lives on through her beloved grandchildren, Dylon Thompson and wife, Abbie, Devon Thompson, Connor Brewster, Christy Bates and fiancé Ryan, and Kylee Payton, as well as her great-grandchildren, Cason, Sarai, Waylon, Madison, Camden, Ashton, and AJ who will all hold her memory close to their hearts.
Marilyn is reunited in eternal peace with her father, Alvie Edwin McWilliams, her mother, Doris Laverne Morrow McWilliams, and her daughter, Angela Brewster. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived. Marilyn Kay McWilliams will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 8th, 2025, from five until seven o'clock in the evening at McNett Funeral Home in
Andrews, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, at McNett Funeral Home at eleven o'clock in the morning with Reverend Leslie Boone officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Andrews North Cemetery.
