In the heart of Chicago, '46 the year, Marilyn D. Pierce was born, bringing cheer. A life well-lived, a journey so fine, She left us in Middletown, in the summertime. Her heart, it was valiant, till the end it did fight, But heart complications took her into the night. On July's eleventh, in twenty-twenty-five, We remember her fondly, her spirit alive. Marilyn, dear Marilyn, with a smile so bright, A beacon of love, in the darkest of night. A Christian in faith, in God's grace she did rest, With every endeavor, she gave it her best. From Potsdam to SUNY New Paltz, her knowledge did grow, An educator in music, her students would glow. From notes on a page to the life lessons taught, She gave to her teaching a passionate thought. Her family, her heart, W. Douglas her mate, With Derrick, Dean, Dalton, and Brody-life was great. A matriarch true, in her love they did bask, Her presence, a treasure, is all they could ask.
Marilyn played oboe, her voice raised in song, in variety shows, she'd perform all night long. Tennis and golf, on the green she'd be seen, and ice skates in winter, she was the ice queen. Her garden, her sanctuary, in soil she'd toil, Planting beauty on earth, in its rich, fertile soil. With the bloom of each flower, her care it did show, In the dance of the petals, her love did grow. Passionate, selfless, and loving, indeed, Marilyn's life was a wondrous read. She lived with a vigor that few could compare, And in each act of kindness, her soul laid bare. So here's to Marilyn, whose life was a song, A melody of love, where we all belong. Her legacy lives on, in the hearts she'd embrace, Marilyn D. Pierce, a life of grace. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, 7/16 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United methodist Church, 58 West Main St, Middletown, NY. Cremation was Private.
