Marilyn June (Speerschneider) Roffers, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2024.  She was born on July 14, 1926, daughter of the late Jule W. and Anna (Heesacker) Speerschneider in New Franken, WI.

Marilyn married Gilbert Roffers on August 21, 1948, at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Marilyn had a passion for gardening, maintaining a large and productive vegetable and flower garden for most of her life.  She was always happy to share its bounty with family and friends.  She was also very skilled at crafting – particularly sewing and ceramics. Her sewing room overflowed with projects that she created and often shared with others.  Her basement ceramics studio was a busy place for many years where she offered lessons and supplies.  Marilyn was also very active in animal welfare causes.  Her efforts to improve the care and safety of animals were wide ranging: from protesting cruelty to animals in circuses, to co-founding CLAWS (Citizens Looking for Animal Welfare Solutions) her efforts were tireless.  As part of CLAWS, Marilyn helped raise funds to purchase and distribute animal respirators to 15 different fire/rescue departments in Brown County.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Nanci (Steve Brown) and Juli, her son, Gregg, grandchildren, Brenna and William, her brother, Lyle Speerschneider; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Jeanette and Violet, and their spouses as well as her sister-in-law Janet.

Marilyn’s family would like to thank all who were involved in her care.
