Marilyn June (Aroneo) Scarnaty, 81, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, passed away, in her home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Born in Newark, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Mildred (Heinz) Aroneo. Marilyn was the beloved wife of Raymond Scarnaty, Sr. She worked as a school teacher in the East Orange School District for over 30 years. In collaboration with IBM, she was one of the 1st teachers to improve the use of technology within the education system. Marilyn loved to knit, crochet and give homemade gifts to her loved ones. She enjoyed shopping for antiques, collecting dolls, trips to the casino and Seaside Heights, New Jersey, where as a teenager she met her future husband, Raymond. Marilyn was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan! She was her children's biggest fan, attending every sporting event and theater event possible as they were growing up. Above all, Marilyn loved trips to New Hampshire and a game of cards with her husband.
Survivors: In addition to her husband, Raymond, Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Gerald Scarnaty and Nicholas Scarnaty and his companion Mark; fur child, Ginger; as well as, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by her sons, Christopher Scarnaty and Raymond Scarnaty, Jr.
Services: A funeral service will take place at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 19, 2025 in the Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 Old Bridge Matawan Rd, Old Bridge, NJ 08857 where a viewing will take place from 10:00A.M. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ 07083. Repast, catered by Cioffi's Restaurant will take place at the Italian American Social Club, 189 Main Street, Millburn, NJ 07041.
