New Braintree – Marilyn R. (Hasz)Schur, 81, of New Braintree, passed away on Thursday morning, February 13, 2025, with her family by her side.
Marilyn leaves her loving husband, Paul R. Schur; her son, Justin P. Schur and his wife, Stacy, of New Braintree; her two beloved granddaughters, Kristen and Emily Schur. Her siblings, Marna Hasz of Sutton; her brother, Martin Hasz and his wife, Virginia, of Middletown, CT; her brother, Mark Hasz and his wife, Linda, of Nazareth, PA; as well as her sister, Marie Geesa of GA. She was predeceased by her sister, Marcia Miller; her sister, Marguerite Visconti; and by her brother, Mario Hasz. Marilyn leaves many nieces and nephews. She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Rev. Martin J. and Marie (Sessler) Hasz.
Marilyn graduated from Bridgeton High School in New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor Degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana, and her Master of Education Degree from Worcester State University. She dedicated 37 years of her life to working as Director of Guidance at Oxford High School – a true testament to her extraordinary ability as an educator. She had a special talent and patience for the needlepoint craftwork she loved. She also took great pride showcasing her artistic talent in packaging maple candies and maple coated nuts for the family business. One of her greatest joys was visiting with family at their cottage in Harrisville, NH-Marheim.
Calling Hours for Marilyn will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main Street, West Brookfield, MA 01585. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following calling hours, at 5:00pm in the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
