Marilyn Grace (Juncker) Seifert, 99, of Mt. Vernon, IN left this earth into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on June 21, 2024 at West River Health Campus just 56 days short of her 100th birthday. She was born on August 16, 1924 in Posey County, IN to Andrew and Laura (Niehaus) Juncker.
Marilyn graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1941 at the age of 16. She was confirmed at St. John's Methodist Church at Caborn, where she was an active member with her family until she transferred to Immanuel United Church of Christ in 1969, where she sang in the choir until the age of 91. After graduating from high school, she worked at Stahl Packing Co. for several years and then for George Koch Sons until 1947. After her children started school, she worked as secretary to the principal at Mt. Vernon High School for 24 years. She loved working with the students and teachers. After retirement in 1986, she and her husband, Robert, took up ballroom dancing. They traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and much of the United States, and took the Amtrak from Chicago across the country to the Northwest and to Canada. Robert and Marilyn had a wonderful life - with their amazing children, grandchildren (9) and great-grandchildren (25).
Marilyn enjoyed cruising to Europe on the Queen Mary II with her daughter, Connie, and later through the Panama Canal. She loved making quilts for her granddaughters, taking care of her flowers and mowing her huge yard. Marilyn, also, was a Pink Lady at Deaconess Hospital and volunteered at United Caring Services, Red Cross, and At the Cross Mission.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert, in 1996; parents; and sisters, Irma Pfeiffer, Inez Pfeiffer; brother, Arnold Juncker; nephew, Dwight Pfeiffer; and niece, Elaine McGilvray.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Seifert; sons, Greg Seifert (Sheryl) and Kim Seifert (Carol); granddaughters, Celeste Bowler (Brandon), Suzanne Seifert, Kelli Lovell (Wade), Katherine Higdon (Nick), and Amy Mohorcic (John), grandsons, Charles Seifert (Stefanie), Robert Seifert (Bridget), John Seifert (Anna) and Martin Seifert; nephews, Gene, Richard, Dennis and Gaylon Pfeiffer and Tom and Alan Juncker.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5812 Ford Rd., N. Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Doc. Elisabeth Baer officiating and burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN and from 10:00 am until 11:00 am service time at the church on Tuesday.
Marilyn's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at West River Health Campus and to the staff of St. Croix Hospice for all their kind and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel UCC or the Immanuel UCC Cemetery Fund, 5812 Ford Rd. Rd., N. Mt. Vernon, IN.
