Michael Lee Russell, 68, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away, September 11, 2025 at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born October 30, 1956 in Evansville, IN to John and Ruth (Roedel) Russell.

Mike graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1974 and went on to earn an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College. He worked as an electrician for most of his life and also served as a City Councilman for Mt. Vernon. An avid outdoorsman, Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and later developed a talent for photography. He was a past member of Beulah Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine, Posey County Ducks Unlimited, and the Black Township Advisory Board. In his youth, he participated in 4-H, where he showed horses, and later served as Scout Master for Troops #375 and #389. Mike was a member of Trinity Evangelical Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Mike is survived by his father, John Richard Russell; son, John Adam Russell; daughter, Laura Kuhn (Keith); grandchildren, Mallory, Natalie, Oakley and Presley Kuhn; brothers, Jeff Russell (Patricia) and Greg Russell (Lisa); sisters, Diana Langton (Gary) and Carrie Robb (Brad); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Jim Allen officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, September 15, 2025 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Vernon Conservation Club, P.O. Box 985 Mt. Vernon, IN 47620.
