Marilyn Dee (Veenstra) Sytsma was born on November 5, 1942 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On August 4th she watched her beloved James, husband of 61 years, die from complications of vascular dementia. Broken-hearted, she joined him three days later with her Lord and Savior.
Marilyn (Lyndee) was the daughter of Robert and Dee Veenstra. She is survived by her two siblings Carol (Randy) Vader and Jim Veenstra. She graduated from Grand Rapids Union High School in 1960. She and her husband sustained a 61 year loving relationship that grew through their three children, Tim (Lisa) Sytsma, Laura Stevens, and Heather Glaves. James and Lyndee had seven grandchildren, Luke Sytsma, Anna Sytsma, Josiah (Sarah) Sytsma, Isaac Stevens, Nathan DePrekel, Brittney (Roger) Beluzar, Martell (Chelsey) Melton; several great-grandchildren -two in heaven and Demetrius Sytsma, Seana Mestauskas, Jamison Beluzar.
Lyndee served at her church, Standale Baptist, at her husband's side for over 50 years. Her interests included helping others, cake decorating, a Dorcas Ministry. She was always busy doing something kind to help others with little regard for herself. She loved the Lord and her family. She met her Saviour on August 7, 2025 after a long struggle with Alzheimers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for her and her husband at Standale Baptist Church on Saturday, August 23 at 11:00 am.
