YORKTOWN – Marilyn Dee Triplett, 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her home.
She was born on August 4, 1938 in Muncie, the daughter of William and Margaret M. (Fraizer) Jones and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1956. She also graduated from Ball State University with her BS degree in Education in 1968 and her Masters of Arts in Education in 1976. On August 18, 1957, she married John C. "Red" Triplett.
Marilyn taught Art at Yorktown High School for 16 years before retiring due a disabling injury. She was a member of Union Chapel Ministries.
She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. A family favorite was her chocolate wacky cake with caramel icing. Her happy place was by any body of water with a fishing pole in her hand. She was a devout fan to her beloved St Louis Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts. She absolutely loved spring and summer in Indiana. On any given summer day, you would find her floating on a raft in her pool surrounded by her beautiful flower gardens. She and her family spent many a summer day at Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. Over the years, they owned every type of boat ever made from speed boats, to cruisers to house boats to fishing boats to jet skis. Not only did she pass on her love of the water to her sons, but then later to her grandchildren. Everyone has a favorite "Lake Cumberland" story.
She is survived by her son, William "Bill" Triplett and his children, Brock (Anna) Triplett and Chelsey Triplett; her daughter-in-law, Lisa (Williamson) Triplett and her children, Brandi (Mitchell) Futch, Austin Triplett and Jordan Triplett; her great-grandchildren, Samantha Triplett Carver, Anakin Triplett, John Derek Triplett, Faith Triplett, Jensen Triplett, Jorja Doss and Easton Holeman; special adopted granddaughter, Brook (Austin) Collins; her great-great grandchildren, Austin Whaley and Jacob Whaley; her uncle, James "Jim" Frazier; her sister-in-law, Andrea Triplett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, John C. "Red" Triplett on May 23, 2010; and one son, Rick Triplett in 2016.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie, with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery.
