Jerry West Obituary

Jerry was born July 26, 1936, in Muncie, the son of Verlin and Hazel (Brant) West. He lived in Delaware County all his life and attended schools in Gaston and Yorktown. Jerry graduated from Yorktown High School in 1954, where he participated in basketball and baseball.
Mr. West was employed with Marsh Supermarkets Warehouse for almost 50 years, where he repaired Raymond Lift Trucks. Part of his job requirement at Marsh was to complete training at the Raymond Electronic School in Green, New York.
Jerry was a member of Christian Chapel Church. Jerry and his wife Norma shared a good life faithfully for nearly 68 years, and raised two wonderful sons, Norman and Douglas, who enriched their lives with 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The family is richly blessed by God.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Norma West; two sons, Norman (Jan) West, Yorktown, and Douglas (Kathleen) West, Warsaw; 9 grandchildren, Kyle (Kisty) West, Muncie, Cory (Amber) West, Yorktown, Clay (Taylor) West, Tipton, Aaron (Emily) West, Huntington, Nathaniel (Shannon) West, Virginia, Kevin (Makenna) West, South Carolina, Thaddius West, Muncie, Marie (Adam) Miller, Columbus, IN, Cora (Caden Bowers) West, Warsaw; 16 great grandchildren; Cohen, Matthew, Mason, Sawyer, Mac, Sam, Bodi, Bella, Juda, Calvin, Avery, Ruby, Lennox, Hadlee, Rylee, and Journee.
Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, from 10:00 am until service time at Noon, on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
