Marilyn V. Waldsmith, 84, of Janesville, Wisconsin, formerly of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
The former Marilyn Virginia Sailing was born on May 9, 1938, the daughter of Clarence August and Mae M. (Draves) Sailing. Marilyn grew up in Beloit and graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1956. On July 7, 1956, Marilyn married the love of her life Gerald Emil Waldsmith at First Methodist Church in Beloit.
Marilyn was a homemaker for most of her life. In 1976, she and her husband moved the family to Janesville, Wisconsin where she worked for several years at Gideons and Lewis. She enjoyed making stained glass items, arts and crafts, and painting with watercolors and oils. Most of all but she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Paul Steinke) Waldsmith, Kathy Available Daniels, and Sheila (John) Demeny; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Gretta Norman, David (Barb) Sailing, and Dennis (Linda) Sailing; sister-in-law, Ruth Sailing, along with numerous Waldsmith and Sailing nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Lou) Clifford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry (Carol) Sailing, and Howard (Pat) Sailing; along with an infant brother, Daryl.

Funeral services are 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home, 424 Prospect Street, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Committal at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit will follow the service. Online condolences can be shared at wwwhansengravitt.com
