Marilyn JeAnn (Ann) Tyre Williams 86, of Alma passed away peacefully June 30th, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by her family after a short illness. She was born February 13th, 1938 to the late Delmas and Minta Tyre. She was a native of Bacon County and was raised by longtime educators. Her father a former superintendent and her mother, a retired school teacher.
Mrs. Williams graduated from Bacon County High School. She attended South GA. College and Valdosta State College. She then worked at the Board of Education for 10 years as clerk.
Mrs. Williams was a member of New Vision Church and was formerly a member of Antioch Baptist Church for many years. She and her sister Sue, shared their love for music and sang at many churches, weddings, funerals - and other functions in the surrounding counties. They were known for their beautiful harmony. She married the love her life on September 13, 1957. She then devoted her life to her husband of 67 years and being a loving mother to her 4 children. In earlier years she worked on the farm with her husband Earl, raising pigs, cows, growing tobacco, corn, and soybeans. She is remembered for her delicious home cooked meals she would prepare for lunch for their farm help, who were all considered family.
She loved her garden where she enjoyed many different kinds of flowers for their lovely colors. She was gifted with a green thumb and her beautiful yards were known in her community. She dearly loved her family- her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Having them all for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other special times was a joy to her.
She was proceeded in death by her daughter, Dana Ann Williams, her parents, Delmas and Minta Medders Tyre, her brother Delmas Tyre, Jr. and Eddy Wendell Tyre, her sister-n-law, Sharrell W. Head, a grandson -in-law Jason Hall, brother-n-law, Curtis Neal Steedley and niece Dinah Sue Steedley Miles and a former sister-in-law Martha Jon Weatherly. She is survived by her children April Wren Mikell (Mickey), Earl Blakely Williams (Edye), and (Christy) Crystal Dion Boatright (Frank). Grandchildren- Adrienne Hope Hall, Jade Elizabeth Young (Matt), Andrew Blakely Williams, Molly Mikell Clements (Jacob), Katelyn Cutrer Sullivan (Kevin), Konnor Monroe Cutrer (Jayci), Ethan Franklin Boatright (Hanna), Great Grandchildren- Jacob Smith, Dana, Logan and Jera Hall, Ava and Addi Young, Blayze Williams, Stella Clements, Novella, Monroe and Amelia Sullivan.Sister Sue Steedley and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Pet Hayes and Bishop R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church Friday morning from 10:00 AM until service time.
Active pallbearers will be Drew Williams, Konner Cutrer, Jacob Clements, Jacob Smith, Matt Young, Ethan Boatright and Kevin Sullivan. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
