Marilyn (Best) Young age 86, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026; at home with her family by her side.
Born on September 20,1939 to Clifford and Vivian (Gaudette) Best in
Windsor, Vermont she grew up on the family dairy farm with her two brothers. Marilyn retired from Pratt & Whitney East Hartford, Connecticut where she was employed as an executive assistant for many years. Marilyn had a great love of animals, especially her cats through the years. Marilyn had many interests in her life. She enjoyed snowmobiling, family vacations, trips to Florida, Nascar and football . In her later years she enjoyed kayaking, going to the casino, and playing cards with friends to name but a few. She will be missed by many especially her family. She leaves her beloved cat Molly who she always wanted to be home with and through great love and commitment her family was able to make this possible. She leaves her son Ronald Gardner and his wife Brenda, her daughter Victoria and her husband Miguel Torres, her daughter Kathleen and her husband John Cadwell. She leaves her granddaughter Julie Gardner and her four children, her grandson Ronald Gardner Jr. She leaves her brother Lloyd Best of Vermont, her brother David Best and his wife Alice of New Hampshire. She leaves her stepson Alexander and his wife Carol Young and their children, her stepdaughter Susan and her husband Robert Aspinall, her granddaughter Aslyn Giguere her husband Al and their children. She also leaves two aunts Jean Brown and Marion Knowles, many nieces and nephews, and all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander Young and her sister-in-law Joanne Best.
A calling hour will take place from 9:00AM-10:00AM, Thursday March 5, 2026, at the Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick to be followed by an 11:00AM committal in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial National Cemetery, in Agawam.
