Marion Louise Allen (Hiles) was born in Maud, Oklahoma, on September 27, 1930, to Lloyd and Nora Hiles. She passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on December 3, 2024, at the age of 94, surrounded by her family.
Marion grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma, and graduated from Seminole High School. She met and married the love of her life, Bert Ray Allen, in 1949, and they were married for 61 years until his death in 2011. Marion and Bert raised their two children, Cheryl and Wesley, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where Marion was a homemaker and an active member of the Baptist church. Marion never met a project she couldn't tackle, whether it was stained glass, upholstery, or building an entire house with Bert. She was also a talented seamstress and owned a bridal shop in downtown Bartlesville for several years after Bert retired.
In 2008, Marion and Bert moved to the Yukon-Mustang area for Bert's health, where they were welcomed by the Chisholm Heights Baptist Church community. Marion and Bert were part of a card club in Bartlesville for over forty years and continued their love of cards by joining a new card club with members of their church in Mustang. Marion remained an active participant in this club until her death.
After Bert's passing, Marion adopted a dog, Lily, who became her lifelong companion. Marion often joked, "I don't know what I would do without Lily!" Lily never left Marion's side from the day she brought her home.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Allen Ulmer, and her children: Mary Leon (Phil), Amy Ulmer, Hank Ulmer, and Sally Ulmer; her son, Wesley Allen, and his wife, Diana, and their children: Justin (Christin) Allen, Jacob Allen, Jordan (Erin) Allen, and Mikaela (Cole) Meeks; her nephew, John Green, and his wife, Pamela, and their family. Marion's love and pride for her two children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren knew no bounds. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, both individually and together, creating special projects for each grandchild and teaching them all how to play dominoes and various card games. Each grandchild considers their time with their grandmother to be priceless.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; her grandchildren, Luke and Jennifer; her parents; and her sister, Eunice. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in Mustang.
