WATERFORD Marion A. Breen, 96, formerly of Middle St. passed away peacefully Saturday March 15, 2025 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late Philip and Charlotte Fernet. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.
Marion had been employed at Ursula of Switzerland and retired in 1992. Prior to that she worked at Waterford Halfmoon High School and the former Colonial Diner in Lansingburgh.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Monica. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching sports, playing Bingo, knitting, sewing and baking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Marion was the widow of Richard J. Breen who died in 1982. She is the mother of Kathleen Smith (William) of Waterford, her twin sons Patrick Breen (Catherine) of Waterford and Michael Breen of Clifton Park, Richard Breen and Timothy Breen (Joanne) of Waterford, Mary Ellen Grace (Richard) of East Greenbush and the late Margaret Dagostino. She is the sister of Betty Ann Derrick (Irv) of Waterford. She is the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., (Rte. 32), Waterford. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 – 11 am, prior to the funeral service.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House, 139 South Lake Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
