Marion Susanne Peck Charletta, 86, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Marion, affectionately known as "Mom," was born on June 11, 1939, in the Bronx, NY, and lived in Middleburgh, NY until the 1980s. Marion met Leonard in Middleburgh, and they were married on September 29, 1984. They shared a love of dancing-often seen at the Lamp Post and local clubhouses in their Florida communities-spending time with their friends and playing cards. Together, they lived in Ft. Myers and Summerfield, FL. Most recently, Marion resided in New Smyrna Beach at Seashore Senior Living.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a loyal friend. Known for her warmth and friendliness, Marion developed friendships wherever she lived. She enjoyed playing cards-especially Samba-Bingo, reading, counted cross stitch, and dining out with friends. She was also a talented basket maker, once owning over 100 handmade pieces. Her ever-full candy dish was a symbol of her hospitality and love for company.
Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard Charletta; her parents, Andrew and Madeline Peck; her brother, Ronald Peck; sister, Carol Benham; and stepdaughter, Linda Dalrymple.
Marion is survived by her children and stepchildren: Michelle (Sheila Neville) Bartholomew, William (Nancy) Bartholomew, Mark (Paula Bellinger) Bartholomew, Brian (Cindy) Bartholomew, Gregory (Lynn) Bartholomew, Leonard (Diane) Charletta II, and Joseph (Antonett) Charletta. She leaves behind many beloved grandchildren: Alexis (Walter Simmons) Bartholomew, Brendon (Saasha) Becker, Jaimie (Matt) Hadsell, Kira (John) Keenan, Andrew (Kelly Armstrong) Bartholomew, Meghan (Josh) Francis, Morgan (Ethan) Usherwood, Kailey (Charlie) Harden, Alexis Reinheimer, Hannah (Alex) Miller, Amber (Harry) Sanchez, Kiersten Bartholomew, Claire Dalrymple, Alex (Zalykha) Dalrymple, Alicia (Craig Serafini) Charletta, Lenny (Jessica) Charletta, Jacqueline (Rob) VanderVeen, Nicole (Glen) Sposato, Rachel (Eric) Rickner, Eric, Joe, and Hannah Charletta; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Madeline Hotaling and Janet Smith; brother-in-law Ralph Benham; sister-in-law Angelica Peck; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Among them, her lifelong friend Renate Witt, whose friendship she cherished dearly.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Seashore Senior Living-especially Paul, Darren, Barbara, Katie, and Kim-for their compassionate care, and to the teams at AdventHealth ICU and Halifax Health Hospice for their support.
A prayer service will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Roman Catholic Community, 111 Wells Avenue, Middleburgh, New York, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Middleburgh Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 10:30 AM until the time of the service.
