It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marion Anthony Ciulla, who departed this world on August 18, 2025 in Madisonville, LA. Born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on June 13, 1931, Marion brought love and laughter to all who knew him for 94 wonderful years.

Marion proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the time of the Korean War. His military memories remained foremost in his mind throughout his life.

Marion’s career with the U. S. government spanned 30 years, culminating with the title of Senior U.S. Customs Inspector. His career brought him much pride and success along with fun times, friends, and an abundance of entertaining stories.

Marion was the cherished son of Giuseppe and Santa Strada Ciulla with roots in Sicily and New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalie Ciulla Serpas (Roy).

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Paganini Ciulla, affectionately known as “Manny” who was his partner in life and whom he never wanted to be without.

As a proud father, Marion forged the way for his three children. AnnaMarie Ciulla Meyers (Ricky), Joseph Ciulla (Paula), and Annette Ciulla Barrios (Andre). Teaching them the importance of family, love, and of course a sense of humor.

Marion was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, gracing each one of them with his own original endearing nickname. Jeffrey “Jefferson” Meyers (Kristy), Lindsay “Lindsay Lou” Meyers, Victoria “Red” Welt (Grant), Austin “Blando” Barrios, Leslie “Lesslie or Morelie” Smith (Josh), Aiden “Roach” Barrios, Adelaide “Babita” Barrios, and Andre “Rambo” Barrios. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed sharing his love, joy, and stories with each of them. Adding to his legacy, Marion was blessed with three great grandchildren. Caden Meyers, Bennett Meyers, and Cooper Smith.

Marion’s love for family was evident always in his smile. He enjoyed baseball (big Yankee’s fan), eating his favorite foods (cannolis, spearmint snowballs, and seafood- especially crawfish), and just simply spending time with family. Marion loved to tell stories, leaving everyone in stitches, no matter how many times he repeated them.

The family would like to thank St. Tammany Hospice for their care and guidance. Deep gratitude is felt for his incredible at-home caregivers (friends) Beth Naquin, Mary Ann Hymel, and Carolyn Montz, who served him in his time of need. Thanks for all of your support and love during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, masses or donations may be made in his name to a favorite charity of your choosing, reflecting the love and generosity that defined his life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home located at 75212 LA-437 in Covington, LA on August 23, 2025, from 12:45-2:15pm.
