Marion Benson (Ben) Lewis was born May 29, 1934, to Jesse Duane and Lelia Blanche Lewis in Ramah, New Mexico. He was the seventh of eight children. He graduated from high school in 1952. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Southwest Indian Mission. In 1957, Ben married Sherree Rogers in the Mesa, AZ temple. He served in the Army on the sharp-shooting team at Fort Hood, Texas. He was employed at the Snowflake paper mill for 30 plus years, but the work he loved most was on his farm teaching his children about horses, cows, farming, mechanics, and hard work. Ben shared his love of the outdoors on countless camping/fishing trips and trail-rides and taught many to hunt on the Blue River. His life was filled with humor, practical jokes, patience, and faith in Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherree Rogers Lewis and his daughter, Amy Jean Whetten; his granddaughters, Amy Louise Whetten and Jessica Nicole Lewis; his parents, Jesse Duane and Lelia Blanche Lewis; his siblings, Stan, Elsie, Marvin, Alda, Lelia, Evan, and Venice. He is survived by his children: Benda (Barry) Eggleston, Karlie (Ron) Valles, Ivy (Craig)Jones, Matt (Suzy) Lewis, Glen Whetten, Stuart Lewis, Tana (Saul) Eggleston, David (Cher) Lewis, Vera Sue (Salim) Jabbour, Megan Gould, Dennis (Audrey) Lewis, 36 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren.
