Marion Louise (Vorel) Martens, age 86, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 22, 2024. A celebration of her life will be held February 26th at the United Methodist Church in Eastland at 10:30 am.
She was born to John Vorel and Mary (Stopek) Vorel on July 2, 1937 in Cicero, Il. She was married for 18 years to Walter Martens before life got in the way and they divorced. She was preceded in life by both her parents and her brother John, Jr.
Marion graduated in 1958 from Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (Northwestern). Later on, she received a Bachelor of Science from St Francis University. Marion worked as an ER nurse, nursing instructor, at an allergist office and at a nursing home where she performed duties ranging from floor nurse to Director of Nursing. She made many friends throughout her career at Holmstad Nursing Facility in Batavia, Illinois. She absolutely loved taking care of people and making sure they had what they needed to be comfortable.
Marion was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She dedicated her life caring for her family, was a single mother who worked multiple jobs to provide for her two children and always wanted the very best in life for them. She moved to Texas from Illinois to make sure she was close to her family to provide help when needed. Marion enjoyed gardening, loved cooking, crafts and all arts. Above all, Marion cherished her grandchildren and loved being with her grandbabies. She left many great legacies for her family and was a true example of a devoted mother. She will be sorely missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter: Stacey Villanueva and husband Miguel of Eastland, TX; grandchildren: Nicholas, Isabel, Michael, Holly and Max; and one great-grandchild: Remmy.
A Celebration of Marion's life will be privately held. A celebration of her life will be held February 26th at the United Methodist Church in Eastland at 10:30 am.
