Marion Louise Warfield Barney, a beacon of kindness and compassion, departed this world on August 13, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on February 28, 1958, Marion dedicated many years to the noble profession of healthcare, relentlessly caring for others with a spirit that was both engaging and outgoing. She embodied humor and warmth, captivating those around her with her funny anecdotes and delightful personality.
Marion’s life was woven from the threads of joyous memories. She was an exceptional cook, often filling the homes of her family and friends with the tantalizing aromas of her culinary creations. Shopping excursions were not merely tasks for her; they were cherished moments spent in laughter, making memories that would last a lifetime. It was her genuine care for others that drew people into her world, a world where everyone felt valued and cherished.
A proud supporter of the University of Louisville, Marion’s enthusiasm for her team was a testament to her spirited nature. Above all her accomplishments, the pride and love she held for her grandchildren stood unparalleled, as they were the light of her life and the measure of her legacy.
As a child, Marion was baptized at St. George Episcopal Church, where her journey began in a community that would ultimately feel the weight of her absence. Her family, embracing a life filled with love and togetherness, will be celebrating her remarkable existence privately, reflecting upon the joy she brought into their lives.
Marion Barney is survived by her husband, Joel Barney; her son, Juvonta Barney; her brothers, Robert Warfield and his wife, Clifford Warfield; her sisters, Lonnie Warfield and Marie Dorsey; three adoring grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever carry the warmth of her spirit within their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Dobbin; her mother, Mary Warfield; her son, Anthony Thomas; and two brothers and one sister, Marion leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter that will resonate for generations to come. Her memory will remain an big part of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
