Marion Alvin Witte was born on September 12, 1947. He was one of three children born to Harold and Elithe (Purdum) Witte.
He went to primary school in Melbourne and then attended West Marshall Community School District where he graduated with the Class of 1965. After high school he worked at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown and was active in the Iowa National Guard.
He remained in Marshall County welcoming his daughter Bobette prior to enlisting into the United States Army where he served as a Special Forces Underwater Operations Instructor from 1971 to 1975.
While he was in the service, he met and married Patricia Ann Haney at the courthouse in Key West, FL. After his release from the service, they returned to Iowa where he went back to work at Fisher Controls. He operated a service station in Melbourne for several years.
Marion paid great attention to fine detail and excelled in any hobby that he delved into. He also enjoyed motorcycling.
Marion passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife Pat of Jewell; children Bobette (Don) Moore of Ottumwa, Tammy Botos of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Jay Witte of Cape Coral, FL, Pam (Travis) Remsburg of Ames and Brandy Witte of Radcliffe; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Samuel Eggers, and his two siblings Norman Witte and Sheryl Goodman.
Marion was a man of grit and determination and was incredibly proud of his family.
